Well, not today, but Wow!, I guess I eventually will spend $200,000. Actually, if I am going by a study released this week…I will actually spend twice that, since I have 2 sweet ones.
According to this annual study by the Department of Agriculture, it will cost the average middle income family $204,060 (in 2007 dollars) to raise a child for their first 17 years. This, of course, includes housing, education, child care, health care, etc. That works out to just more than $12,000 a year.
I have to admit when you total it all up, it seems daunting! Apparently the USDA says teens are the most expensive (kids get more expensive as they get older) I suppose that makes sense, but diapers, baby food, wipes, strollers, car seats, etc are pretty darn pricey!
Well…better go get to work…I have to earn some of that $200K!
