COME TO OUR NEW BLOG: www.ExtraordinaryMommy.com/blog. Can’t wait to see you.
How is that for an anaolgy? I was having a chat yesterday with someone I consider very wise…someone I respect ALOT. We were talking about my recent struggle with Mommyhood. I love it. I’m proud of my family. I would do anything for them. But it is hard. I know, I know, I’m preaching to the choir.
But sometimes it feels more than hard….it is overwhelming and stressful and challenging and mundane and well, just really, really hard. And while I am often filled with joy around my kids and do my best to appreciate every little moment, every silly quirk…..sometimes I want to close myself in a dark room and just sit.
My wise friend, while giving me advice, used the ‘boat analogy’. She said, “Mommys are just like boats. If they get even the tiniest little hole, they will eventually sink. If you don’t take care of the ‘holes’ you are feeling in you, you will take everyone down with you.”
She’s right, you know. If I don’t feel right, my family…the ones I love the most, won’t feel right around me.
