So, you are probably asking how in the world liking elephants ties in to being a Mommy….
It has to do with a conversation I had with a girlfriend (and fellow Mommy) today.
We were discussing how challenging it can be to schedule basic appointments when you stay home with your kids. Let’s be honest, having your oil changed isn’t exactly a party on your best day, but when you have the lovely company of two small children….it can be more than a challenge. And what about hair cuts or, (please!) doctor’s appointments?
So our converstation turned to how motherhood creates a special bond among women….how it is difficult to understand the particular ups and downs, love, joy and craziness we experience daily until you are acutally living it. This turned into how you have to bite your tongue when a friend without children says, “I know just how you feel…I don’t have kids, but I do have a dog and SHE IS MY BABY.”
OK….(here is where the elephants come in…) While I am choking on laughter at the comparison between my children and a dog(even a very loved one!), my friend says….”Just because you like elephants, it doesn’t mean you know what it is like to HAVE one”.
How is that for a visual?
My friend is defintely an ExtraordinaryMommy.
